JAMMU, June 3: Govt. Degree College Khour celebrated "World Bicycle Day". On this occasion, the NSS and NCC unit of the college carried out a Bicycle rally. Prof. (Dr) T K Sharma, Principal GDC Khour, Flagged off the rally, along with senior faculty members, Prof. Tarsem lal and Dr. Kuldeep Raj Sharma. About 25 volunteers and cadets participated in this event which started from the college premises to village Narayana and back. While addressing the students, the principal emphasized how bicycles have the potential to be a cost-effective and healthful mode of transportation that conserves resources and protects the environment. World Bicycle Day is celebrated on June 3 to draw attention to the benefits of cycling and to promote bicycle use. The purpose of the day is to promote physical activity through basic activities, such as cycling. The World Health Organization (WHO) also underlines that cycling is an efficient approach to meet the recommended amounts of physical exercise. It is beneficial for our physical and mental health, as well as the economy and the environment as it is a simple and sustainable form of transportation.
