Bhalla demonstrates his strength while filing his nomination papers

Jammu, Dec 3: The Congress candidate for Gandhi Nagar constituency, Raman Bhalla, today demonstrated his strength by Securing support of Several thousand people, inclding a sizeable number of women, when he went to file his nomination papers. Congress supporters atop matadors, buses shouted pro-Bhalla and pro-congress slogans. Party flags and buntings had decorated the city routes right from Bhalla's residence to the election office.
Addressing people Raman Bhalla said that vote for the Congress "is vote for a strong India." He hoped the voters in Gandhi Nagar Constituency would take into account the development of the area had received a fillip during the last over five years because of his efforts. He said that he was instrumental in upgrading several schools, in installing new power transformers which ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity.
Bhalla wanted people in the area not forget his contribution in the development of roads, sewage system and in the building community halls and parks. He was lustily cheered when he told people that vote for "me is vote for progress and development."
He said his opponents were spreading canards and in this connection he referred to his role during the agitation on the revocation of the land order .He said he was the first to support the Amarnath Sangarsh Samiti and added that he and other congress leaders had visited Delhi twice, during the agitation, to persuade the party high command to restore land to the Shrine Board. He said that Jammu and Kashmir was faced with a difficult political and security situation at present and in order to take the state on the path of progress and peace voters' support for the congress candidates was very important. He assured people that he would continue to serve them and fight against communal and fundamentalist forces.
