| Govt Degree College celebrates World Environment Day-2022 | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 4: Department of Environmental Sciences in collaboration with NSS Unit and Debates & Seminar Committee, under the aegis of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrated World Environment Day. At the outset, Dr. Muzaffar Ahmed, HOD, Department of Environmental Sciences introduced the theme of the event and apprised the audience about the need for such awareness programs. Principal of the college Dr. Manohar Lal, who was also chief guest on the occasion briefed the audience about the history and importance of celebrating World Environment Day. Heapplauded the efforts of the organizers for translating a serious thought of worldwide concern into action by organizing such program amongst the masses through the medium of the student community. He emphasized upon a healthy ecosystem and climate as an essential requirement for meeting the sustainable development goals viz-a-vizthe need of organizing such programs in future as well in order to create a sense of concernamongst the masses in general and students in particular for protection of environment and mother earth. The event comprised of showcasing of documentaries on 'One Earth' -the theme for this years' celebrations, which was followed by pledge taking ceremony for the protection of environment. The proceedings were carried out jointly by Sajad Ahmad Sultan and Deepak Kumar while the vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Muzaffar Ahmed. |
