GDC Kathua organises one day workshop on 'World Environment Day'

JAMMU, June 7: Department of Environmental Sciences, Ravi Eco Club and Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kathua SKUAST-Jammu have jointly organised 'One Day Workshop' on the occasion of 'World Environment Day 2022' on 7th June 2022. The topic of the One Day workshop was 'Let's Protect 'ONLY ONE EARTH' by Restrategizing the Sustainable Development Goals'. The workshop was held with the prime objective of sensitizing the students about sustainable development goals and challenges in its implementation. A total of 100 participants got themselves registered for the work shop.
In the Technical Session 10 participants gave presentations on the topic. The students elaborately express their views on the topic. Vivek Modi SFS, DFO Kathua has given a plenary lecture on the role of forest in combating climate change. Dr Vishal Mahajan Sr. Scientist and Head Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kathua SKUAST Jammu also given a detailed lecture on the Prof. Shveta Saroop acted as the penalist in the Technical Session and presented the concluding remarks.
The Workshop was organized under the patronage of Prof. Sumanesh Jasrotia, Principal GDC Kathua who also graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the students. He further discussed that the climate change is evident and has become a global concern over the last few decades which needs to be addressed immediately. Prof. Rakesh Jasrotia was the guest of honour on the occasion. Dr. Deepshikha Sharma Asso. Prof. & HOD Environmental Sciences acted as the Organizing Secretary of the event. She explained the prime objective of organizing the workshop on the topic of the workshop. She emphasized on the need of restrategizing the sustainable development goals by the country to meet the challenges and to achieve the target of Agenda 2030.
The proceedings of the workshop were conducted by Prof. Neeru Sharma of Deptt. of Environmental Sciences. Prof. Rupali Nanda, Prof. Nisha Bhagat, Dept. of Botany also contributed in the successful conduct of the event.

The faculty members present on the occasion were Dr. Seema Malpotra, Prof. Rakesh Singh, Prof. Ritu Bhagat, Dr. Rachna, Dr. Anupama, Dr. Ambica, Dr. Kailash Sharma and Dr. Kamaldeep.
