Semifinals position clear in football
Inter-college competitions

EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 3: Semi-finals position has been cleared in the ongoing inter-college football competitions organised by Department of Physical Education, University of Jammu at GGM Science College ground, here today.
Now, in the semi-finals, to be played tomorrow, Government MAM College shall take on PG Arts while Bhargwa Degree College shall face Degree College Udhampur.
Earlier, in the quarterfinals, played today, MAM College blanked Degree College Rajouri
4-0 with Vinay netting three goals and Harleen Singh one.
In the second semi-final, PG Arts trounced Degree College Kathua by two goals one. Sunil Singh conceded the first goal opening the Kathua account while Suram Singh netted the only goal from Kathua College. From PG Arts, Rajat Balouria scored both the goals.
The third quarterfinal ended in a walkover with Degree College Udhampur getting a direct entry into the semi-finals in the absence of both Degree College Bhaderwah and New Age College.
In another quarterfinal match, GGM Science College lost to Bhargwa Degree College 1-3. Chander Singh scored all the three goals for winners Bhargwa College while Abhinav reduced the margin from Science College.
Today’s quarterfinals were officiated by Harmanjit Singh, Gagan Kumar and Tanpreet Singh. Prominent among those witnessed today’s matches were Principal GGM Science College, Vijay Kotwal and Dr Brij Balouria.
Next matches: Semifinals: MAM College V/s PG Arts; Degree College Udhampur V/s Bhargwa Degree College.
LAWN TENNIS: Government SPMR College of Commerce outplayed GGM Science College 2-1 in a keenly contested quarterfinal of inter-college men’s lawn tennis competitions underway at University of Jammu courts today.
In the first singles, Karun Jasrotia lost to Arjun Dev Verma 7-8 while Vikram Dhawan won the tie against Vikas Parmodh 8-0. In the deciding doubles, Vikram and Dhawan defeated the pair of Arjun and Vikas 8-5.
In another scheduled match, PG Departments got walkover Degree College Akhnoor. With two teams reaching the semi-finals, the last four stages have been cleared in lawn tennis. Now, in the semi-finals, to be played tomorrow at 10.30 am, MAM College to face Degree College Kathua while PG Departments to meet SPMR College of Commerce.
Today’s matches were officiated by Ravish Vaid, Harpal Singh and Vaneet Kumar under the supervision of Ramesh Magotra.
