| J&K register an innings and 36 runs win over Haryana | | North Zone U-16 Cricket (Vijay Merchant) Tourney | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 3: The proud junior cricketers today registered their second consecutive win outplaying formidable Haryana by an innings and 36 runs in the North Zone under-16 (Vijay Merchant) Cricket (league) tie at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here today.
Following-on in reply to J&K’s first innings total of 324, Haryana bowled out for a partly total of 167 runs in the second innings today to suffer a humiliating defeat.
Waseem Raza was star striker, who not only clinched the three important wickets in the middle order but also made a valuable contribution from bat adding quick 62 (off 65 balls, 8x4) runs to the J&K total.
Behad Qureshi, who had a match haul of six, bagged two wickets in the second innings. Sarwanjeet Singh and Soumay Jain shared two and one wicket respectively.
From Haryana, Bharat Dureja and Rahul Punyant remained the highest run getters with 40 runs each while Guntashveer added 19 runs. Three batsmen, including opener, Satyam Sharma failed to open their accounts.
Now, in the third match, J&K shall take on Punjab at Patiala on December six. The fourth and final league tie shall be played between J&K and Delhi at Delhi from December 16.
