| GDC Purmandal organized “Cleanliness Drive of a Pond” of Purmandal area to commemorate World Oceans Day, 2022 | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 8: Department of Environmental Sciences in collaboration with NSS unit of Govt. Degree College, Purmandal organized “Cleanliness Drive of a Pond” of Purmandal area to commemorate World Oceans Day, 2022 with the theme “Revitalization: Collective Action for the Ocean”. This day is celebrated every year on June 8 to inform the public about the impact of human action on the ocean and to raise awareness about the crucial role the ocean plays in our lives and the important ways people can help to protect them.
The whole programme was conducted under the patronage of Worthy Principal of the college, Prof. Seema Mir. While speaking on the occasion, Principal of the college said that we must take care of the oceans as they are the lungs of our planet and are the largest carbon sinks playing a vital role in regulating the global climate. Students and staff of the college enthusiastically participated in the drive.
On the occasion Prof. Shahima Akhter, Head Department of Environmental Sciences interacted with the students and made them aware about the importance of water bodies as they provide shelter to countless flora and fauna which provide us with life saving oxygen. |
