J&K Police organises “Thana Diwas” in all districts of Jammu Province

Jammu, June 9: As part of public outreach programme to improve the Police-Public relations, efficiency, transparency and accountability in Policing at grassroot level in all districts and to develop confidence and synergy with citizens, the event “ Thana Diwas” an initiative of Government of J&K, was conducted by J&K Police today in all the Police establishments throughout Jammu province in which members of Civil society, Panchayat, Traders Federation, Nambardar and Chowkidars etc. participated. It is pertinent to mention that this event is being observed on 2nd and last Thursday of every month.
Keeping, in view, on the directions of Director Genl. of Police J&K, Shri Dilbag Singh IPS & Addl. Director Genl. of Police Jammu Zone Jammu, Shri Mukesh Singh-IPS,“Thana Diwas” was conducted in all Police Stations in Jammu Province headed by SSsP and Addl.SsP to redress the grievances/issues besides providing Police services to complainants/needy persons instantly on the spot which include character certificates, service-verification certificates, passport-verification certificates, birth & death certificates were also issued on the spot to the applicants. A record of all the complaints/ issues highlighted by the public on “Thana Diwas” along with its follow up is being maintained at each Police Station. Charing officers urged that the participants must cooperate with Police and Administration in maintaining Law & Order in their area of responsibility as well as in identifying Anti-National & Anti-Social Elements like Drugs Peddling, illicit liquor, bovine smuggling etc.
The chairing officers also informed the participants that Police has made all efforts to set effective mechanism for the delivery of Police services and all the available apparatus is being utilized in delivering the services related to Police for the benefit of needy people/complainants during the event and assure that their grievances will be forwarded to concerned departments for speedy disposal.
They also requested the participants that public should extend cooperation, and give suggestions to improve police working, so that effective working is ensured in overall policing.
It is pertinent to mention here that the main objective of this event is that the various issues of public importance and their genuine grievances pertaining to Police may be resolved on priority and some issues pertaining to civil administration may be taken up with the concerned departments for early redressal.
