Jammu, Dec 3: A total of 271 candidates are at the hustings in 16 constituencies going to polls in the sixth phase of elections on December 17. Today being the last date of withdrawal of nomination papers, 13 candidates pulled out of contest in Anantnag, Kulgam, Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban districts, fixing the final count at 271.
Prominent among the candidates are former chief ministers Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Ghulam Nabi Azad. While Sayeed is contesting from Anantnag, Azad is seeking election from Bhaderwah. |
