Rekha visits memorial, families of Praja Parishad agitation martyrs'

JAMMU, June 9: Jammu and Kashmir BJP Secretary, Akhnoor District Prabhari & Co-ordinator Seva, Sushasan, Greeb Kalyan Pakhwada, Rekha Mahajan, during her public outreach programme, visited families of Martyrs of Praja Parishad Andolan of 1953. She paid glowing tributes to the martyrs of this historic Praja Parishad agitation by presenting saplings to family members.
Rekha Mahajan, along with Daljit Singh Chib, Ex Vice Chairman, Kissan Board and president Praja Parishad Trust Jourian, Manga Ram, Mandal President Jourian, District Vice President Anu Manhas, visited freedom fighter memorial in Jourian and later visited their families.
It is pertinent to mention here that on January 11, 1953, during the Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Pradhan, agitation Waryam Singh, Sain Singh, Trilok Singh, Baldev Singh, Nanak Chand, Mela Ram and Basant Ram from erstwhile Akhnoor attained martyrdom by laying down their lives for the honour of tricolour and good of the erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir.
Rekha Mahajan said that it is the result of the sacrifices of these brothers that today we see fully integrated Jammu & Kashmir with the rest of India.
We must remember the sacrifices and educate our young generations too so that they also come to know how Praja Parishad agitation was launched with the mission to achieve true unification of J&K with the rest of the country.
Daljit singh chib said that We must share with youth of today that it was the Praja Parishad agitation that laid the foundation of a historic movement to remove separate flag, besides having a single Constitution across the nation.
