Hold probe into PSI selections made by SSB: Harsh Dev
6/9/2022 11:21:05 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 9: Expressing concern over the growing unrest against the, recent selections of Police Sub-Inspectors (PSIs) made by SSB, Harsh Dev Singh, Former Minister and senior AAP leader has sought a high level probe to allay the apprehensions amongst the aggrieved candidates and civil society members. He said social media was buzz with numerous allegations of corruption, nepotism, favouritism and other extraneous considerations having prevailed in making the said selections. Several complaints of leakage of answer keys and other manipulations were doing the rounds with youth taking to streets in various places seeking an impartial enquiry into the whole gamut of selections, said Singh. He urged upon the LG to announce a probe at the earliest so as to address the genuine concerns of aggrieved youth. He was interacting with dozens of youth who called on him at Jammu today.
Accusing the present regime of failing to fulfil the urges and aspirations of the educated unemployed and under-employed youth, Singh said that summering discontent amongst them could have earthshaking consequences with catastrophic fallouts. Don't disregard the sentiment of the unemployed youth and don't downplay their growing anger. The govt has repeatedly held out false promises of youth empowerment and creation of adequate employment avenues year after year only to cause them disappointment. Such a lackadaisical approach of the govt coupled with manipulations in the process of recruitments had only antagonized the younger generations who were fast losing faith in the system, asserted Singh.
Reminiscing the govt assurance made in August, 2019 of engaging 50,000 youth on fast track basis through Accelerated Recruitment Committee (ARC), Singh maintained that the said statement had proved a cruel joke with neither such appointments made nor the proposed ARC making its presence felt anywhere. Likewise on February 8, 2020, the Union Home Minister made a statement in the Parliament that 84,000 posts were going to be filled up in J&K. Giving the breakup of the said posts in the Parliament, it was stated that 76453 vacancies of non-gazetted and Class-IV posts and 7552 gazetted posts were proposed for filling up in a time bound manner. What happened to the said assurance is also not known. Similarly the govt had only last year announced to fill another 30,000 posts with nothing heard in this connection thereafter", rued Singh.
Earlier the govt had dis-engaged 1500 health professionals engaged in H&ME Deptt under SRO-24. Likewise, it had arbitrarily dis-engaged over 1000 subject specific teachers appointed through a proper procedure under RMSA. It has dis-engaged 918 employees who were working in the Social Welfare Deptt for several years. It had rendered 5000 employees of Saakshar Bharat Mission (SBM) jobless by discontinuing the said scheme. It had announced a blanket ban on appointment of teachers for 10 years. It had terminated the services of thousands of daily wagers besides denying them wages for duties rendered by them for months and years. It had even cancelled the select list of J&K bank candidates after its finalization in 2018 without assigning any reason.
Regretting that the unemployment rate in J&K had become highest in the country, Singh urged upon the Lt. Governor to personally intervene in view of massive outrage sparked amongst the unemployed youth across the J&K UT.
