GDC Kathua celebrates World Oceans Day

JAMMU, June 9: Department of Botany of Government Degree College Kathua celebrates World Oceans Day on 9th June, 2022 A national level online quiz competition will be organized by the Department of Botany, GDC Kathua. The theme of this year was "Revitalization: collective action for the ocean".
The online quiz competitions were organized under the overall supervision and guidance of Prof. Sumanesh Jasrotia Principal of the college. In these event, Prof. Ram Krishan HOD Botany acts as Convenor of the Quiz and Slogan whereas, Dr. Shveta Saroop acted as Coordinator to these events., Prof. Nisha Bhagat, Prof. Rupali Nanda were also members of the organising team.
Prof. Ram Krishan while giving details of online national level quiz competition said that response of students was overwhelming, as large number of Undergraduate and post graduate students and different research scholars of different colleges and universities of Jammu UT including GDC Kathua, GCW Kathua, GLDM Hiranagar, GDC Nowshera, GCW Gandhinagar, GDC Udhampur, GDC Ramnagar, GGM Science College Jammu, GDC Akhnoor, GDC Anantnag, Islamia College Srinagar, , GDC Anantnag, GDC Bemina, GCW MA Road Srinagar , PG College Rajouri , IDS College Jammu, Central University of Jammu, Jammu University, GDC Kargil, Ladakh UT, Madhya Pardesh, AMU Aligarh, Bijni College from Assam , HNBGU Uttarakhand, LPU, RIMT university from Punjab, Hansraj College from Delhi, Delhi University and others took part in the Quiz competition.
In the Online Quiz Competition, more than 75 students were participated out of which more than 375 Students scored more than 70 percent mark and got e certificate. Pooja from IDS College Jammu secured 1st position, Aditya Sharma from GDC Kathua and Riya Singh from GDC Nowshera shared 2nd position. Anubhuti Angral from Hansraj College Delhi, Nijara Muchahary from Bijni College, Assam, Dipansha Khajuria and Kamiya sharma from GDC Kathua, Preeti Raina from GDC Udhampur, Anu sharma, Neha Bharti and Priya Sharma from GDC Akhnoor shared 3rd position in the quiz.
Prof. Sumanesh Jasrotia, Principal GDC Kathua appreciated the department of botany for successful organizing the quiz competition and encouraged the department for organising more such events in the future. He also emphasized the need of saving the oceans as it covers over 70% of the planet. It is our life source, supporting humanity's sustenance and that of every other organism on earth
Prof. Romila Gularia Dr. Seema Malpotra Prof. Raj Kiran Prof. Jasvinder Singh Prof. Rakesh Singh Prof. Ritu Bhagat, Dr. J.S. Soodan, Dr. Surya Partap Singh, Dr. Ram Krishan and other Senior faculty members also supported the department for successful organisation of the event.
