BJP to strive for national integration: Chaman
12/4/2008 10:10:11 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Dec 4: Asserting that BJP would continue to strive for removal of all barriers between the State and rest of the country, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta party candidate from Jammu west constituency has said that the party is having a clear vision that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India whereas the Congress is having no Kashmir policy and was responsible for many ills including that of secessionism, fundamentalism and terrorism.
Addressing a meeting of the party activists in connection with the preparations for campaigning in the constituency, he observed that the problems of refugees from West Pakistan, the migrants from Pak-held areas as also from the Valley of Kashmir and other places could not be sorted out even after expiry of so many years, due to the communal mindset of the Congress leadership in addition to the communal and parochial thinking of the National Conference and some other elements of Kashmir Valley.
Prof. Gupta regretted that the Congress, National Conference and their likes in the Valley of Kashmir instead of telling the people that there was no room for any secession and they should join the mainstream, are extending certain strange arguments to get their votes that if the people in the Valley would not vote, the Jammuites would dominate the State Assembly.
Referring to media reports, he said that at certain places in the Valley the electorates are being persuaded to cast their votes by telling them as otherwise the Kashmiri Pandits would capture the Kashmir seats despite their being in minority.
The BJP leader said that the communal and sectarian approach of the Congress, NC, PDP and some others had also resulted in discrimination against Jammu and also against the scheduled and backward classes. Their parochialism was also responsible that Gujjar Bakerwals could not get political reservation. He impressed upon the workers to educate the electorates about the facts and apprise them of the tricks of the Congress which they had been employing to divide the votes and ruling them for the past so many years.
