Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 17: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee has lashed out at the Modi Govt. for igniting fire amongst youth in the country by announcing the new recruitment policy for armed forces " Agnipath" and sought to withdraw it and hold regular recruitment to the armed forces, as before including the backlog of past over two years.
Addressing a press conference at party HQ here today, JKPCC Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma lashed out at the new recruitment scheme "Agnipath" for armed forces, which has sent a wave of frustration amongst the youth of the country, who have reacted angrily throughout country. The spontaneous reaction and agitation in several; states itself shows how anti youth is the new scheme amongst the youth, who have rejected in one voice.
Flanked by former MLC Ved Mahajan, Secretary Sanjeev Panda, Chairman SC Dept. Karan Bhagat, Rajveer Singh, Sahil Sharma Spokesperson, Sdr. H.S. Mehta, PYC Vice President Ricky Dalotra, Youth leader Balbir Singh, JKPCC Chief Spokesperson said that the youth have been betrayed while the defence of the country can't be run on adhocism. Several defence experts in particular and youth in general have rejected the scheme as anti-youth and dangerous from the defence point of view and the social aspects and fall outs of the same.
The youth have burnt trains, disrupted traffic and took to streets in more than dozen states including Jammu and Kashmir against the faulty scheme, which needs total re-look and withdrawn without delay. It is exploitation of unemployed youth besides a risk to the defence mechanism apart from risk to the society, as well, in some states with law and order problem.
He said that youth of border states from the traditional army background as well as others always looked towards armed forces jobs for service to the nation besides a biggest source of employment but their hopes have been shattered by the Govt. which has already betrayed the youth after promising two crores jobs annually. He said that congress leader Shri Rahul Gandhi has rightly said that it is another big Jumla and big betrayal with the youth by Modi Govt.
Since Defence Minister Raj Nath Singh is on tour of J&K, he should immediately put the anti-youth scheme on hold and withdraw it. He appealed to the youth to have patience and adopt only the mode of SSatya Greh shown by Mahatma Gandhi. The party also cautioned against excessive use of force against the unemployed youths protesting for their cause and don't subject them to brutal beating as is being witnessed daily.
