| Indira, Rajiv lost lives for country, Bhalla reminds people | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Dec 5: Asserting that Congress was committed for the safety and security of the masses, Raman Bhalla senior congress leader and candidate from Gandhinagar constituency said that his party would uproot the militant network to ensure that the masses feel protected in every respect. Addressing various public meetings across Gandhi Nagar constituency on Friday, Bhalla said that the assassinations of Indra Gandhi and Rajeev Gandhi, while protecting the country, amply shows that congress party has never shown its back while protecting the masses of the country. "What else than the sacrifices of two great leaders- Indira Gandhi and Rajeev Gandhi- could better prove the commitment of the congress in providing its masses the safe and sound environment in every respect," he said and added that his party was equally committed in providing the protective atmosphere for the people in future as well. He further said that the resignations of Home Minister of India and Chief Minister of Maharashtra proved the fact that the leaders of Congress party had the guts to take moral responsibility for the betterment of the country as a whole. "Unlike their predecessors, our leaders took the moral responsibility and resigned from their respective posts but did any of the BJP leaders resign when during their regime, the Parliament of India was attacked," he asked. Ridiculing Bhartia Janta Party for their attitude against the militants, he said that they shattered all the records when their foreign minister, Jaswant Singh accompanied five hardcore militants in the same flight to Kandhar and handed over them to Taliban in exchange of hijacked plane. "What proud he has done to our country by accompanying himself to five hardcore militants to Kandhar in the same flight," he asked and added that during BJP’s regime no leader took moral responsibility despite deadly militant strikes all across the country. He said that the historical Ragnath temple in the heart of the Jammu city was attacked by militants during BJP regime at the centre but they did nothing practical but to condemn the attack. Urging upon the people to support his party, he said that congress would leave no stone unturned in prospering the state, if voted to power. "We have done it in the past and are committed to do it again for the welfare of the people of our state," he said and added that none else than congress was capable of serving the people of the state. |
