| Three withdraw for Azad | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Bhaderwah, Dec 5: It was really a moral boosting for the Congress when three independent candidates withdrew their nominations in favour of former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is seeking re-election from Bhaderwah constituency of Doda district. Those who withdrew in favour of Azad today include Mohammed Fazal Alam, Bhagat Amin Chand and Kalyan Singh Bhagat. While talking to media persons, after withdrawing their candidatures, they said that following assurance of former CM that the rural areas would get priority in the matter of development, if voted to power, they decided to withdraw from the contest and support the congress candidate. They further said the Congress led government has made notable achievements in different sectors and referred to the construction and taking up of net work of roads in the hilly and mountainous district apart from opening the Jammu University campus at Bhaderwah and setting up of Bhaderwah Development Authority. They, however, maintained that had the PDP not ditched the Congress party and the Chief Minister, the situation would have been all together different particularly in rural areas which remained neglected all through. They also appealed their sympathizers to vote for the Congress candidate and make him victorious with a record margin as was exhibited in the previous by election. |
