Zero Tolerance Against Corruption
6/24/2022 11:00:31 PM

The Jammu and Kashmir Government sacked nine more employees. These employees were reportedly shown the door for their alleged involvement in corrupt practices.
They were sacked under 226(2) Article of Jammu and Kashmir Civil Service Regulations which allows the administration to retire government employees at any time after completing 22 years of service or attaining the age of 48 years.
After August 5, 2019—when the Centre announced its decision to abrogate J&K’s special status and divided it into two Union Territories—the anti-graft agencies have been more teeth and these are keeping a close vigil over the activities of all the government employees. The ones who are found involved in corrupt practices are being shown the door.
During the past two years the Anti Corruption Bureau has acted tough against the corrupt elements. The genuine complaints have been looked into and the officials found involved in corruption have been booked for indulging in wrong practices.
The ACB becoming active has led to the employees refraining from asking for bribes and indulging in corrupt practices.
The government sacking nine employees is a message to one and all that corruption won’t be tolerated. Stern action against the employees should serve as an eye opener for all those who take everything for granted. The employees need to understand that one genuine complaint can end their careers and send them to prison. The ACB is not shying away from taking action against even the top-ranking officials. Whosoever, has crossed the line has faced the action.
The ACB is no longer considered as a toothless tiger. It has got more teeth during the past two years.
The people who indulge in corruption should understand that they are provided jobs by the government to serve the people and not to mint money by misusing their official positions.
There are reports that the government has prepared a list of corrupt employees and action is likely to be taken against them soon.
The war against corruption Jammu and Kashmir is in its decisive phase and the ones who still continue to indulge in wrong practices should mend their ways. If they don’t do it they can end up in a mess.
