If not Agniveer, public representatives also have no right to get pensions: Shiv Sena
6/25/2022 10:49:36 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 25: Shiv Sena Jammu and Kashmir unit strongly condemned the entitlement of 75 percent youths to four years' service without pension under the Agniveer Recruitment Scheme, it can become a compulsion in rising unemployment, not patriotism,
Addressing media persons here today at Party's state office today, Manish Sahni, President Shiv Sena J&K, said that there is strong resentment among the youth across the country regarding the Agniveer scheme and they are agitating on the streets, in spite of all this, the central government in its pride and arrogance is adopting a very ignorant attitude. Sahni alleged that the aforesaid scheme is "killing" the aspirations of millions of youth who want to join the armed forces and serve the nation. He asserted that 75 per cent of the youth who join the army through the Agnipath scheme would become unemployed at the end of the fourth year. He questioned what would happen to the youth who finish a four-year career in the army and come out. "At the same time, press conferences were held by the senior officers of the three wings of the army and in the same time Union Minister VP Singh, who is getting the salary of Parliament along with army pension, had reached the court to extend his job for one year after retiring at the age of 61, today is supporting the Agniveer scheme," Sahni said.
Sahni said that in the first year of this scheme, 46000 youth will be recruited in the army, which is much less than the normal recruitment number. At the same time, applicants who have been waiting for recruitment for the last three years have also been disappointed, he added.
Sahni asserted that despite not completing their tenure, MPs and MLAs have been given the right of two pensions, but the unemployed youth of the country are being played with their future by giving them only four years of jobs without pension.
