| Govt to help revive six JKI units | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, DEC 6: With a view to review the functioning of JK Industries limited (JKI Ltd) its 142th Board of Directors meeting was held here today. Advisor to Governor Mr. H. H. Tyabji chaired the meeting. Commissioner/Secretary, Industries and Commerce Mr. Pawan Kotwal, Managing Director Jammu and Kashmir Industries limited Mr. Hirdesh Kumar, Additional Secretary Industries and Commerce Mr. Manzoor Ahmed, Director Budget Mr. Ravi Kumar Mangotra and Director Planning and Development attended the meeting as Directors of the Board. The meeting reviewed the overall functioning of the industries limited and took various decisions for revival of sick industrial units. The meeting was informed that JKI Ltd. was running 15 Industrial units in the state. It was decided that six different sick industrial units would be made viable by way of providing necessary support to these. For the purpose it was decided that a sub-committee would be framed that would examine the working of the sick units and suggest necessary measures for their revival. Tyabji, on the occasion exhorted upon the concerned authorities for making earnest efforts for revival of sick units and added that none of the units run by the JKI ltd should remain in sickness for want of support and technical knowhow. He said keeping in view the modern trend of markets the goods like furniture, furnishing, cloth, shawls and other handicraft items should be manufactured with latest designs for the attention of customers. He also asked for proper availability of raw material for the manufacturing of these items and also to improve marketing capacity. He asked for further boost of industrial units in the state and said that both micro and macro entrepreneurship under industries limited would not only provide employment opportunities to skilled and unskilled youth but the people would also get manufactured items of their choice from the JKI Ltd at reasonable rates. |
