| Azad lists achievements of his government | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Dec 6: Underlining the development works undertaken during his rule, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today said his government had done what the National Conference regime did not during the last several decades of governance in the state. "We have brought major changes in the field of education, health care, delimitation of districts, power sector, water supplies in less than three years of rule as compared to previous NC governments during the last several decades of governance," Azad told a public rally in Panchari and Reasi areas. He said the development works ensured by the Congress-led government in the state were known to every one. The former Chief Minister said his government made bridges in record time and the construction of bridge over the Chenab River at Akhnoor took only 18 months. Government Medical College (GMC) has been upgraded to the level of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and a large and beautiful Yatri Bhawan for Shri Amarnath pilgrims at Jammu was another major project accomplished in a record time, Azad added. He said foundation stones of 35 hospitals in 22 districts at the cost of Rs 650 crore were laid in only two and half years of his government .A record number of degree colleges were opened which never happened in the past over 50 years, he said, adding if voted to power, the party would open a degree college at Sunderbani, besides opening an emergency hospital there. |
