Kundal says Congress to launch scheme for girl child

JAMMU, Dec 8: If voted to power the Congress government in the stat would consider of launching va special scheme for the welfare of female child belonging to the BPL families by providing a fixed deposit scheme at the time of birth, besides creating a special corpus of Rs. 20 crore for the marriage of poor and needy girls.
Stating this at a large gathering assembled at the party election headquarters here today, the former minister B R Kundal said that the Congress party in its manifesto has laid emphasis on adopting a comprehensive employment package for unemployed youth and grant stipend to the unemployed that could not be implemented by the congress led coalition due to unfortunate and sudden withdrawal of support by the PDP.
He said the party will also seek a special quota for the educated unemployed youth of the state from the central government departments, public sector undertakings and banks in the nationalized sector. The party also endeavours to develop a package to provide employment under Class IV category, daily wage workers and casual labourers on need basis besides considering lowering of eligibility qualification to middle standard in this category, he added.
Reminding the gathering about the achievements of the Azad led government, Kundal said that this period witnessed a massive development in almost all sectors adding that ‘what could not be achieved in last 60 years, the congress led government did it in less than 30 months’.
In road sector along projects worth Rs. 227 crore were sanctioned during 2006-08 as against projects worth Rs 178 crore under CRF while under NABARD projects worth Rs. 1145 crore were sanctioned in just over two years period as against projects worth Rs. 1196 sanctioned during the previous nine years time. It was the for the first time that project under Inter state connectivity project for 42.5 km prestigious Bhaderwah-Chamba road involving a cost of Rs 73 cr was got sanctioned during the current year itself.
