| Computer dealers frame body | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 8: For smooth functioning of Jammu Computer Dealers Association (JCDA) members of the association elected five members committee electing Arvind Kaul of microcomp system as its president. The other members are Roopesh Magotra of microware communication as General secretary, Rohit Jandiyal of Aditya technologies as vice president Naveen Gupta of Computer age as organizing secretary and Dikshit Gupta of source peripherals as treasurers. As per press committee is elected for two years and will further select five executive members for smooth functioning of the association. The newly elected President Kaul on the occasion stressed upon various measures to be taken upon for the betterment of the IT Industry at large. Further he informed about various objectives of the association. General Secretary Roopesh Magotra presented the future agenda of the association, and said there are approximately 200 computer dealers in Jammu province and are providing services to Defence Govt. and private sector in local as well as far flung areas like Poonch, Doda, Kishtwar and in Leh and Kargil respectively. The contribution in terms of revenue to the state govt. is significant. He said IT industry has generated vast employment opportunities for the youth of the state, but the govt. has not done enough to promote IT industry in the state as done by neighbouring states. The Association demanded IT complex at Jammu and other areas of the state, thereby creating IT HUB. They further demanded that the tax slab of certain items under consumables to be reduced from 12.5% to 4% as is being charged in rest of the country. |
