| Bhandari warns candidates against MCC violation | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 8: Jammu Deputy Commissioner Dr Mandeep Bhandari on Monday administered a bitter pill to candidates in poll fray in Jammu district warning them against violation of model code of conduct. Chairing a meeting which was also attended by candidates belonging to all the political parties along with large army of Independent candidates, Dr Bhandari took serious note of movement of large number of unauthorized vehicles used by different candidates in the election campaign. Dr Bhandari also issued strict instructions to all the candidates to stick to the model code of conduct failing which strict action as per guidelines of the election commission of India will be taken against the defaulters. He said all those vehicles without any authorization would be seized. He also took strong note of defacement of public property by various candidates in Jammu and requested the candidates not to deface the public property. He said the candidates indulging in blatant violation of the model code of conduct would be asked to foot the bill incurred on removing posters, and blackening walls painted in poll slogans. He said the candidates can campaign till December 22 adding the campaigning would come to end 48 hours before the date of polling. He said the candidates can use three vehicles for movement during counting. He said all voters should carry their identity proof to polling stations in the absence of which voters will not be permitted to cast their vote. |
