| 10 day educational, motivational tour flagged off | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Udhampur, Dec 8: Army which has been a Harbinger of peace and normalcy in the Kashmir valley has come a long way in last two decades in winning ‘Hearts and Minds’ of the local population and also keeping the young boys away from militancy. Keeping up its endeavour of providing quality education and learning opportunities to the children of terrorism affected areas, the army arranged an educational and motivational tour for 35 children from a wide cross-section of schools in South Kashmir from today. Thirty five children including 10 girls and three teachers will be exposed to the diverse cultures, traditions and life styles of the people of Jammu, Chandigarh, Delhi and Jaipur. The event has been fully sponsored by the Army to include transportation, lodging, boarding, kitting and all allied expenses. Addressing the children before flagging off the tour from Buna Devsar today, Commander 2 Sector Rashtriya Rifles asked them to witness firsthand, the state of development outside the valley, which is possible in an environment of peace and tranquility and contribute their might in the pursuit of `Aman’ which will facilitate similar development in the valley. |
