| Regional bias dangerous for unity, integrity of country: Gupta | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Dec 8: While communalism and regional bias are dangerous for unity of the people and integrity of the country but unfortunately the Congress, National and PDP have been operating under the influence of these maladies as a result of which the state is faced with the problems of secessionism, fundamentalism, terrorism, in addition to the regional disparities and subsequent tensions, said BJP leader Chaman Lal Gupta. Addressing series of election meetings in different localities of Jammu city he recalled that after the painful communal partition of India in 1947, the Congress leadership committed another folly by granting a separate status to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370, thus paving way for breeding secessionism, fundamentalism and eruption of terrorism. The BJP leader also maintained this communal dispensation of the Congress and its allies are also responsible for regional disparities and injustices towards Jammu. He said that Jammu has been ignored to the extent that unemployment in this region is about 70 per cent of the total unemployed educated youth and the expenditure on developmental activities in this region has been far less than its due share. Disputing the claims of progress and prosperity being made by the Congress leaders, especially the Ministers of the Ghulam Nabi Azad led Coalition, he pointed out that Rs. 1470 crores were earmarked in the package of the Prime Minister for Sewerage and development of the slum areas in Jammu City but despite expiry of over four years now, not a single penny was spent on the ground out of this money. He impressed upon the electorates to have accountability and punish those who are responsible for all this mess by judicious use of their vote power. |
