July 8 incident an administrative failure, needs probe: Dr Gagan
7/13/2022 10:28:20 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 13: Dr.Gagan Bhagat Dy. Chief Spokesperson of J&K National Conference & Former MLA in an press statement addressing to the Media has strongly condemned the Incident which left 16 people dead & several missing. He lambasted at the LG Government for not ordering a probe, rather a cover-up is being done of what happened. The Cloudburst was not the reason, we call it a cloudburst when there is continuous rain of 100mm in an hour, but on 8th duly it rained heavily for 75mm in three hours which was started at 05:30 pm. The IMD gave the warning well in advance & instead of taking a call the people at the helm of affairs permitted 25 Tents & 3 community kitchens at the Flood basin. This is totally criminal act, that when you already knew that there would be heavy rains & the most dangerous place was a flood basin. Just to show numbers that the pilgrims are rushing towards Amarnath Yatra in a New Peaceful Jammu & Kashmir made by BJP Government. On 28th July in the year 2021, the yatra was cancelled, but our security forces have erected tents at the same river basin, that time all were rescued. This time when knowing very well that the area is prone to landslides & if it rains there could be a tragedy such a large number of pilgrims were accommodated. Dr. Gagan Bhagat further said that the LG Government should not just do a formality as it was in the case of 31st December stampede that killed several pilgrims where an inquiry was ordered, and the Manoj Sinha assured that the responsibility will be fixed within one week. Till today nothing was done, the same officers continued & the CEO Shrine board was promoted. This shows that BJP is only interested in numbers, so that they prove to everyone that the historical blunder of 5th August 2019 was right decision, in this the lives of people doesn't matter for the BJP, they can go to any extent.
He quoted the call of Shankarcharya Goverdhanpuri Peethaadhishwar Adoksjajanand Dev ji Maharaj who said that we should not make pilgrimage a matter of tourism, his words are very wise and it came from one of the most respected person of the Santana Dharma. Dr. Bhagat added that in 1996 a commission headed by Satish Sengupta has recommended that the yatra should be of one month & not more that one lakh pilgrims be allowed to visit the holy cave, till today the recommendation has not been followed by the government. We strongly request the LG govt. to take a decision and constitute a high-level probe in the chairmanship of retired justice of High Court, if the Govt. care for the lives of pilgrims.
