Vote NC for jobs: Omar
12/8/2008 11:47:29 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
SRINAGAR, Dec 8: Promising jobs, stipends, incentives and sustenance allowances to educated youth and avenues to others unemployed, the National Conference President Omar Abdullah today said that the coalition government of Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party deceived people in name of jobs.
Promising exactly the same which Peoples Democratic Party and National Conference had promised six years and almost failed to deliver, the National Conference president said, “return us to power and we will open gates of employment”.
Reiterating the commitment of the party for opening new avenues for the young unemployed, Omar said party after coming to power will ensure that in each household of the state there is at least one earning hand who can sustain the family and shoulder its responsibilities. He also promised that the unemployed youth will be provided stipend which will be a sustenance allowance till they are employed.
Addressing public meetings in Tral, Omar accused the former chief ministers Mufti Muhammad Sayeed and Ghulam Nabi Azad of playing with the careers of youth. "Their promise of providing jobs to unemployed youth remained confined to papers only; he said adding that they stand exposed before the masses as their claims of demilitarization, self rule and dual currency stand punctured".
"The only thing which flourished during coalition regime with their so called double shift is "corruption", Omar said adding the party after coming to power is committed to weed out unemployment and corruption from the state".
Castigating PDP and Congress for playing divisive politics, Omar said the PDP- Congress coalition in its six years of rule played divisive politics and tried to create fissures among the people of the state for petty political gains which could have had dangerous connotations for the integrity and unity of the state. He said had it not been for the resistance by the people of the state, the PDP and Congress was ready to divide the state on regional, religious, ethnic, linguistic and caste basis for their political ends. He said if voted to power, National Conference will work to restore the bonds of communal harmony and brotherhood among the people of the state.
