| Vote Congress for stability, peace, development: Charak | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 9: Asserting that Congress is the only party which cares for the poor and downtrodden people living in most difficult and backward areas of the state, former ministers G S Charak and B R Kundal, who were on election campaigning in Bishnah constituency, regretted that even after 60 years of Independence there was no trace of roads adding that it was only Azad led government that undertook massive road connectivity program in length and breadth of the state under the Prime Ministers Sadak Rozgar Scheme. The leaders said that all the far flung areas are being connected by roads during the next four to five years. Referring to NC’s criticism of neglecting the rural areas so far health sector was concerned, the congress leaders said that special attention was given for up-gradation of health care facilities in rural and urban areas with construction of 33 district and sub district hospitals across the state between 2006-08 at a cost of Rs. 781 crore, out of which 14 hospitals have been made functional and 10 more nearing completion. Not only this, six new trauma hospitals on national highway were also approved at a cost of Rs. 8.73 crore while work on 22 PHCS involving a cost of Rs. 42 crore were completed during the last two and a half years of Congress rule. After having failed to convince the electorate the poor performance of the Congress led government, the NC and PDP have launched a vilification campaign against the congress party and its leaders and maintained their nefarious designs would never succeed to vow the electorate. Accusing PDP and BJP for raising emotional slogans of ‘self-rule’ and abrogation of Article 370, guaranteeing special status to Jammu and Kashmir, the congress leaders said that raising such issues at the time of elections is just to blackmail the voters and asked as to why BJP, when in power at centre, did not abrogate the Article 370. The bogey of self rule being advocated by PDP is totally against the national as well as interest of the state adding that Jammu and Kashmir is already enjoying all democratic and constitutional rights. Leaders appealed the electorate across the state not to fall prey to the machinations of these narrow minded political parties and reject them by exercising their right to vote in favour of the Congress party which is committed for the equitable and balanced development of the state as was witnessed in its just two and half year’s rule. |
