Shiv Sena holds protest over inflation; terms J&K expensive than whole country

JAMMU, July 21: The hollow policies of BJP led Government at the Centre has responsible for economic slowdown, unemployment and unbridled inflation across the country. Along with economic slowdown and unemployment, Jammu and Kashmir has reached the top rank in comparison to other states, due to the increasing activity of profiteering mafia as the people are hit twice by inflation. This was stated by Manish Sahni, President Shiv Sena J&K while talking to reporters during a protest in Jammu.
Shiv Sena leaders led by Manish Sahni today staged a vigorous protest near the Party Central Office against highest level of inflation in the country in general and in Jammu and Kashmir in particular. Sahn said that the inflation rate in Jammu and Kashmir has remained at an all-time high and the situation is that today Jammu and Kashmir has become the most expensive place in comparison to the country. "Despite being a Union Territory, there is no relief for the residents of Jammu and Kashmir. Mild relief on petrol and diesel, the GST imposed on essential commodities flour, pulses, rice has increased the sufferings of common man. On the other hand, the ever-increasing prices of food items have troubled the common people in this era of highest inflation," he said. "The profiteering mafia, does not let any chance to cheat the consumers, keeping the prices of most items intact, the public is being cheated by reducing the weight. At the same time, packaged food items that have reached the expiry date are also being sold indiscriminately in Jammu and Kashmir," he added. The J&K administration and all the concerned departments are sitting blindly.
Sahni said that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir has become like "Andher Nagri, Chaupat Raja". Since the dissolution of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly in June 2018, the bureaucracy continues to dominate and arbitrariness and the people are battling with inflation and maladministration, he added. Sahni said Roti, Kapda & Makaan, are the basic needs but the mismanagement by the PM Modi led government has miserably failed to control the skyrocketing prices of the trio and sadly all three necessities are becoming unaffordable day by day. "The vegetable vendors have started displaying rates of vegetables in quarter quantity rather than kilos making it amply clear that under Modi they also don't expect inflation to come down", he said and added that BJP government and leadership should first focus on this issue before indulging in rhetoric about trillion-billion economy. Sahni asked the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir to issue strict instructions to fix the prices of essential commodities and to ensure that there is no recovery of more than the fixed amount.
