HCBA stages protest on second consecutive day

JAMMU, July 23: The J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu, in continuation of their struggle for fulfillment of their demands already put-forth before the U.T. Government number of times earlier, today held a protest Dharna, under the leadership of its President M.K. Bhardwaj, Sr. Adv in the District Court Complex, Janipur, Jammu. All the office bearers namely S. Mohinder Pal Singh Pali, Vice President, Surjeet Singh Andotra, General Secretary, Aditya Sharma, Joint Secretary, S. Amandeep Singh, Treasurer, Rohit Sharma (YLA President), S. Gagandeep Singh Lucky (YLA Vice President), Yaseer Farooq Khan (YLA General Secretary), S. Karanjeet Singh Johal Joint Secretary (YLA), Naresh Kumar Treasurer (YLA), besides many senior & young lawyers participated in the protest dharna. The Bar members continuously on 2nd day abstain from work in all the Courts including District Courts, Tribunals & Commissions on account of the protest dharna.
It is pertinent to mention herein that yesterday on 22nd of July, 2022, the members of the Bar Association held a strong protest march and Dharna in support of their demands and large number of members took out a strong procession by holding national flags in their hands, upto the main road, Janipur, Jammu.
The members who spoke in the today's protest dharna are H.C. Jalmeria, Babu Ram Sharma, Monish Chopra, Rohit Sharma, President (YLA), Yasir Farooq Khan Gen Secy (YLA) Azhar Usman Khan, Bhavishya Sudan, Zaffer Choudhary and many other senior and young members spoke in the Dharna and supported the demands.
M.K. Bhardwaj, Bar President and Senior Advocate, while addressing the members present in the protest Dharna, categorically stated that" Today's Dharna is a mark of protest so that the Administration which is in deep slumber do the needful at the earliest, Bar President divulged adding, Due to the shifting of the Courts and Tribunals outside the District Court Complex, lawyers fraternity and general public are facing insurmountable hardships as such we are seeking the housing of the different Tribunals in single Multi dimensional complex of High Court and there is adequate space available in the Court complex" Bhardwaj further stated that the sisters Bar Associations are also facing the same problems and they are also affected by the same issue of scattered Judicial Courts. Bhardwaj stated that similar type of multi dimensional complex are required to be constructed in all the Districts & Muffasil Courts so that their genuine grievance can be redressed.
Bhardwaj, while addressing the members who participated in the protest Dharna, urged upon the U.T. Government not to adopt delaying tactics in resolving the genuine long pending demands/issues of the legal fraternity. He further stated that in the event of failure to do the needful, the JKHCBA, Jammu, shall have no other option except to intensify the agitation in support of their demands.
Bhardwaj, further stated that a meeting of all the office bearers of the main Bar and YLA team as well as the former Bar Presidents, office bearers and other members will be held within one or two days, so as to decide the further course of action for the struggle in support of the demands.
Bhardwaj while concluding the protest Dharna once again urged upon the U.T. administration to take immediate appropriate steps to resolve all the long pending demands/ issues of lawyers fraternity i.e. Construction of multi storey building for housing all the judicial work i.e. Registration work, CAT, DRT, AFT and other Tribunals within the court premises, failing which the Bar Association shall take all necessary steps required in this behalf to ensure that the demand of the lawyers fraternity which is in larger public interest is met.
