Mayor, others inaugurate statue of Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan

JAMMU, July 23: Chander Mohan Gupta Mayor Jammu in presence of Kavinder Gupta Ex Deputy Chief Minister J&K, Advocate Purnima Sharma Deputy Mayor Jammu today inaugurated the statue of Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan which has been installed at Janipur Chowk of ward no.34 leading towards J&K High Court Jammu. Rani Devi local councillor of the ward no. 34, Dinesh Gupta Councillor of ward no.18, Yashpal Sharma Councilor of ward no. 35, Surinder Sharma Councillor of ward no. 38, Subash Sharma Councillor of ward no.36, Sunita Gupta Councillor of ward no. 37, Dr. Akshay Sharma Councillor of ward no. 8 as well as Ramesh Arora Ex MLC, Arun Gupta President Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Ramesh Gupta President Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha, Advocate M.K Bhardwaj, president Jammu Bar Association, Advocate Abhinav Sharma Ex President Jammu Bar Association, Advocate Chander Mohan Sharma Senior BJP Leader, Advocate Ravinder Gupta, Advocate Raghu Mehta, Jugal Mahajan & other prominent citizens of Jammu as well as Er. Rakesh Mahajan Executive Engineer, Er. Kuldeep Raj Assistant Executive Engineer, Er. Kuldeep koul Junior Engineer & other supervisory staff of works Div II JMC were also remained present there during the occasion which was held in a very simple manner.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor highlights the major achievements & reforms conducted by Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan ji who also become 1st Prime Minister of J&K State and played a key role in the accession of J&K state to India. Besides this, he also worked as third Chief Justice of India and was the Head of India's Judicial System and brought many reforms in both the civil & judicial activities.
He further told that the statue of the legend has been prepared by the prominent sculptor of Jammu namely Ravinder Singh Jamwal and has been installed especially at High Court Junction on a well furnished platform with beautiful granite/marble and other allied works work on it which has been done by the concerned works division of JMC on war footing.
Kavinder Gupta Ex Deputy Chief Minister J&K also spoke on the occasion & threw light about the major initiatives taken by Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan ji especially for the upliftment of people of J&K belonging to downtrodden families irrespective of any caste, breed or religion.
