eaRLY tIMES rEPORT

Poonch, July 29: Advocate Sunil Sharma, President Municipal Council, Poonch along with his team of councilors visited different areas adjoining municipal limits of Poonch town where floods caused by incessant rains have damaged agricultural land, irrigation canals, public property and widely disconnected people. Taking stock of the situation, besides, exhorting the authorities to provide immediate relief and rehabilitation to the affected populace, he requested the concerned authorities to conduct a survey of the area especially in and around ward no. 16 and 17 of the Poonch Town on priority basis to suggest a sustainable and long standing solution to this problem in the form of protection walls, tree plantation etc. He also made an appeal to the people living in close vicinity to the rivers to follow and get themselves updated regarding various weather advisories or warning issued by the district administration. Most notably, he invited the attention of parents and teenagers not to tread along the river side; better would be staying home till flood subsides and life comes back to normalcy. He further pressed upon following the government advisory issued from time to time and apprised about the good work done by SDRF and the Indian Army in this tough situation. They have thoroughly stood by the people in this tough time. Talking to the local residents, he emphasized that “the painstaking work done by the Municipal Council, Poonch is unparalleled; where compassion and duty comes together to bond people with profound humane emotions. He further inspired the people o the vicinity that , together , we can face such natural disasters by helping each other and considering that we all are together as one family”.
