BLSKS mounts 3 day awareness campaign on “World Hepatitis Day”

JAMMU, July 29: To observe the "World Hepatitis Day" & to promote the traditional culture of J&K, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan in close coordination with Sangam Tru Art Production, mounts 3 days awareness campaign & presented it's 122nd Friday Series Musical Concert "Sujan Chha Jigar Bachao" at Rehearsal hall, Durga Bhawan Janipur, Jammu. The Program was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Dr. Tara Singh Charak, Former Deputy Director, Health Department J&K Government. Among the Guest of Honors present were V.K. Magotra, former Regional Director, Directorate of Field Publicity, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, Dr. Anju Kumari Dogra, Health Department Jammu & Mukesh Singh, Media Person - The Shadow Newspaper and other dignitaries. The day commemorated as well with sole aim of rejuvenating the traditional, Primitive Folk, Art, Culture of J&K Region in particular and Indian nation in general awareness items. The Specially items prepared on the theme Sujan Chha Jigar Bachao Hepatitis Da Tika Lagao", "Tika karan bada Zaroori", "Kushtrog se bacho", "Nasha Nai Kario Munde Kureio", "Nahin Piya Tobacco Balma", Nukkad, Skits, Songs and Dances were presented to aware the masses. The Chief Guest Charak, said World Hepatitis Day (WHD) is recognized annually on July 28th, the birthday of Dr. Baruch Blumberg. Dr. Blumberg discovered the hepatitis B virus in 1967, and 2 years later he developed the first hepatitis B vaccine. These achievements culminated in Dr. Blumberg winning the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1976. Organizations around the world, including the World Health Organization , commemorate to raise awareness about viral hepatitis. It is creates an opportunity to educate people about the burden of these infections, main efforts to combat viral hepatitis around the world, and actions people can take to prevent these infections. and lauded the efforts of the organizers in making such awareness programmes colorful and effective. During the campaign Blsks will present two concerts in Shant Nagar & Roop Nagar in Jammu. The songs were written & directed by Dr.M.L.Dogra & the music of the concert was assisted by M.C. Kotwal, Music Director, BLSKS. The songs were recorded and uploaded on social media for benefit of general public.
Earlier welcome speech was given by Dr. M.L. Dogra, Chairman, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan said World Hepatitis Day is observed each year on 28 July to raise awareness of viral hepatitis, which causes inflammation of the liver that leads to severe disease and liver cancer. Hepatitis means inflammation of the liver. The liver is a vital organ that processes nutrients, filters the blood, and fights infections. When the liver is inflamed or damaged, its function can be affected. Heavy alcohol use, toxins, some medications, and certain medical conditions can cause hepatitis. Viral hepatitis - a group of infectious diseases known as hepatitis A, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, hepatitis D, and hepatitis E - affects millions of people worldwide, causing both acute (short-term) and chronic (long-term) liver disease. Viral hepatitis causes more than one million deaths each year. While deaths from tuberculosis and HIV have been declining, deaths from hepatitis are increasing. Get tested on World Hepatitis Day because you may be unaware that you're infected. It's a simple blood test that you can take at your doctor's office or at your neighborhood health center. After you're tested, encourage your friends and family to do the same. BLSKS affiliates to raise awareness about the virus with events on World Hepatitis Day presents musical concerts, pop-up testings and many more activities about it.
The singers, musician ,actors and students of music and computer institute who participated in the musical concert were Usha Raina, M.C. Kotwal, K.K. Joshi, Rajni Gupta, Anu Gupta,Sudesh Devi, Rajeev Salotra, Sanjeev Kumar, Sunil Kumar Pandit, Naiya Digra, Renu Bala and many others presented enthralled performances. At last of the programe Master Deepak Kumar presented vote of thanks for successful conduction of the program.
