| BJP to undo unemployment: Chaman | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 10: While the BJP would strive hard to overcome the unemployment problem on priority basis but would not make false promises unlike the Congress, National Conference and PDP, which have been trying to befool the people by making unrealistic pronouncements and showing the moon on various issues to woo the electorates, said former union minister and senior BJP leader Prof Chaman Lal Gupta here today. The BJP candidate from Jammu West Assembly constituency, who was an extensive electioneering in the constituency, observed that the so- called Special Status granted to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370, because of communal considerations by the Congress, and the regional bias against Jammu and Ladakh, are the major causes of unemployment. Unless there is industrial growth and developing tourism, the problem of unemployment would continue to be the cause of worry. Besides, addressing election meetings at Bakshi Nagar, Basant Bihar Patoli and other localities in the City, Prof Gupta also inaugurated election office at Bakshi Nagar. Castigating the Congress, National Conference and PDP on issue of false promises, Prof. Gupta recalled that first of all in 1983, the Congress in its Election Manifesto promised to provide a Government job to at least one member of a family and in case of unemployment stipend. Taking clue from the Congress, the National Conference in 1987 and 1996, made similar assurances and still they are making such like promises to woo the youths. The PDP in 2002 elections went ahead of both these parties and promised two jobs to each family but the plight of the educated youths is before all of us, he lamented. He said that more and more Government jobs cannot be the solution to this problem because there are 18 lakh families in the State and at present the number of Government employees is less than five lakhs. In the situation, can the Congress, National Conference or the PDP create more 13 lakh Government jobs; he questioned and alleged that these parties have been making false promises which are not realistic. |
