| Employees discuss future course | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 10: The J&K Government Employees Joint Action Committee in a meeting held here today have discussed various measures to be adopted for the unity of state government employees. The main points discussed were the dis-information campaign launched by the anti-working class of the employees. Other points discussed were implementation of pay commission report, enhancement of retirement age from 58 to 60 years, implementation of agreement held between the government and clerical staff and to convert cola into DA. Keeping the prevailing circumstances in view, the representatives of JCC unanimously decided to defer the 2nd December, 2008 strike but it is strange and unfortunate and degradation of the trade union movement that a handful few elements group of EJAC led by Pardeep Kumar did not participate in the meeting on 1st December, due to their inner bickering as all the six members were hell bent upon to participate but only two members could have been accommodated in the JCC meeting but they too did not participate in the meeting. The 4.50 lacs state employees are well aware that the movement particularly from 1991 has changed the course of the history of the working class of the state who achieved major benefits through hard and thick struggle under the EJAC leadership. Again this is an established fact that the employees and workers of the state will follow in future in letter and spirit the programmes of future struggle under the leadership of EJAC led by Ram Kumar Sharma, Abdul Quyoom Want, Gafoor Dar and other members and we will enjoy the full support of employees community every time and the anti-working class forces to be isolated from the popular movement and the struggle will be adopted accordingly. The session also discussed the sincere state level broader unity of state government employees and felt that it is need of the hour because the former coalition government has miserably failed to mitigate the sufferings of the state government employees to concede the just and genuine principally agreed demands for the last three years during the regime of Ghulam Nabi Azad. The EJAC sincerely decided to form broad based united front on the collective leadership basis and to chalk out the strategy and programmes in the near future, if the government fails to fulfill its commitments to concede the demands amicably. |
