Jaitly turns blind on R’sthan, Delhi waterloo, sees BJP’s future in J&K
12/11/2008 12:08:40 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Dec 10: Turning his eyes blind over the waterloo BJP met in Rajasthan and Delhi, the party general secretary Arun Jaitly today said that Congress was on the verge of losing political identity in Jammu and Kashmir.
Weaving imaginations into words, the BJP leader claimed that his party was the only political formation registering a growth in its graph in Jammu and Kashmir and elsewhere in the country. “Verdict is clearly in our favor and we are going to play a decisive role in the state when results are out”, said Jaitly.
Speaking at a press conference here today Jaitley said that Congress must assure people of Jammu that it won't become tail of Kashmir centric parties. Jaitley said, the congress party has lost its effectiveness to work in favour of people of Jammu region. He was flanked by senior party leaders including state Chief Ashok Khajuria and Prof Chaman Lal Gupta
He said in its place the BJP has emerged strong voice for people of Jammu because of its clear stand over the issue of empowering people of Jammu to end discrimination.
Throwing ball in the court of congress party and asking them to make their stand clear over the issue of supporting slogan of autonomy or self-rule, senior BJP leader said BJP has made it clear that it is contesting the present assembly elections on the slogan of providing political power to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. "We have decided that under no circumstances we will directly, indirectly or obliquely support those parties who have been discriminating with people of Jammu region for past several decades" .He said the congress party should also clear its stand and assure people of Jammu that it would not compromise their mandate by becoming tail of Kashmir centric political parties.
Jaitly pointed out that a false propaganda campaign has been launched against BJP on dropping Article 370 from its agenda. In a oblique reference to Prof Hari Om, Jaitly said “one of our old friend, who recently joined Congress party, should not think much about it”.
It may be mentioned that after leaving BJP Prof Hari Om was setting agenda for the congress campaign and accused BJP of drifting away from its core issue of abrogation of Article 370.
Responding to the allegations, Jaitley said that Article 370 was a Nehruvian blunder. History has proved Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee right and Pandit Nehru wrong. He said the journey of Article 370 is a journey of separate status to separatism.
Referring to the issue, Jaitley said history has proved Dr Mukherjee and Prem Nath Dogra right and Nehru and Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah wrong.
He said it is different issue that we (BJP) have lacked the legislative strength to amend it but our political resolve against the article continues to remain firmer than it always was, virtually snubbing BJP old friend turned foe.
