| PM’s visit to boost congress morale | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Dec 11: The PCC President and Union Minister of Water Resources, Prof. Saif- ud-Din Soz, has been assigned the task of making arrangements for the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh’s visit to Kashmir on December 14. Prof. Soz has already reached Srinagar for supervising party arrangements for the Prime Minister who is scheduled to visit Shangas in South Kashmir where polling is slated for December 17. Since the Congress had fared well in south Kashmir in 2002 despite a challenge from PDP and the National Conference, the Prime Minister’s visit is expected to boost the morale of the pro-congress voters in the districts of Anantnag, Pulwama and Kulgam. The Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Jammu on the same day. The venue for his election rally is yet to be decided. Indications are that he may hold an election rally in Gandhi Nagar constituency. Earlier, organizers had planned to include Kathu in the Prime Minister’s tour itinerary but the program has been dropped and Manmohan Singh may address a poll rally in Jammu. |
