Aaj Phir Tum Pe Pyaar Aaya Hai: Kashmir netas bat for separatist leader
8/5/2022 11:52:09 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 5: Even as Kashmir is running on the track of peace and prosperity since the abrogation of the so called special status of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, 2019, some of the prominent political parties in Kashmir have started singing the “same old tune” seeking “release” of a senior separatist leader.
The National Conference and the Peoples Conference in numerous messages have demanded release of the Hurriyat M Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq who is already living at his residence and was not taken to prison since the 2019 decision.
While the Mirwaiz has been putting up at his Nigeen residence here and could be avoiding moving out for there’s nothing left for the separatists to do in Naya Kashmir, the regional politicians have demanded his release.
In a video, the NC spokesperson said that Mirwaiz was “a popular personality and that his release was much-needed.” The NC released numerous videos for Mirwaiz who is known for his anti-Indian stand.
The PC Chairperson Sajad Lone took to the social media to express his love for the separatist leader. “Spare a thought for @MirwaizKashmir He is under continued detention for the last four years. And none of us has talked about him. My apologies.
We may differ politically but he inspires us as a religious head. A religious head who spearheaded the forces of moderation,” Sajad said.
“@MirwaizKashmir has stuck to utterances which are moderate and represent the true essence of Islam. He has religious duties. His continued incarceration is a crime against him and against all those whom he inspires at a religious level,” the PC leader added.
He also made appeal to the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah to release the Hurriyat leader. “humble appeal to @AmitShah sahib and @manojsinha_ sahib to please ensure that He is released as soon as possible.
He has himself been a victim of violence. Let it be known. There r many wars in Kashmir. And in our real war he is an unapologetic moderate.”
Observers said failing to gain public attention the “Kashmir politicians have started playing the same old cards.” “When was Mirwaiz arrested when he continues to live at his residence. So why is his release being demanded? What’s cooking up,” asked the analyst.
