| LJSP demands winding up EP Department | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Dec 11: Addressing a largely attended public meeting in the locality near Vikram Chowk Jammu today, Lok Jan Shakti Party J&K State Unit President and party candidate, from Jammu East constituency, Rafiq Malik, demanded winding up of Evacuee Property Department and transfer of the urban property in Jammu city to the allottees with granting them ownership rights on the same.
Malik said that EP department is proving a white elephant, particularly in respect of urban property under its custody. The department has become a den of corruption. A sword of uncertainty and eviction gets hanging on the heads of the tenants. While Evacuee Property departments in all other states were wound up long ago, in this state it has been kept with a vested interest of some politicians as well as the high officers in the department, who are plundering this property. He said that the money collected through transfer of property on hire-purchase bases to the tenants for a long time can be deposited in the account of the evacuees. This will undo the uncertainty as well as protect the interest of the evacuees, Malik suggested. |
