| Dark era of divisive politics is over: Karra | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Dec 11: Asserting that time has come for the people of Srinagar to liberate themselves from the shackles of exploitative and emotional politics perpetrated by the National Conference over the years, Tariq Hammed Karra, PDP leader said that "Instead of allowing themselves to be taken far-granted by any political party, the people of Srinagar must elect those representatives who can do justice with their sacred mandate". While formally launching his election campaign from Batamalloo and Eidgah constituencies today, Karra said that "after having suffered immensely the miseries of turmoil, the inhabitants of Srinagar are now emancipated enough to fall into the NC's trap of Sher-Bakra, Shia-Sunni or other similar divisive tactics," and added that the residents of Srinagar have suffered enough and they now want, with political and economic empowerment, a secure future for their coming generations. Karra said the ongoing elections are a real test for the people of Srinagar and they shall have to lay the foundations of a politically and economically empowered future for themselves and their children without getting entrapped in the politics of emotional blackmail and deceit. "They shall have to ensure a secure future for their young sons and daughters, who otherwise have to run from the pillar to post to get what is their right," he said and added that the youth of Srinagar have been exploited to the hilt and they now deserve justice on all counts. Assuring the people of Srinagar that if elected to power, he and his party would stand guarantee to their economic prosperity, Karra said the voters of Srinagar gave 30 years to NC, but couldn't get anything tangible for either for themselves or the city. "Let them give PDP six years and see results," he said and added that the wave of development process that was initiated by the PDP-led Government in Batamalloo constituency would be passed on to every nook and corner of the city and its peripheries. "At the same time social and job security would be ensured for our young boys and girls," he said. |
