Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 7: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta on Sunday congratulated Jagdeep Dhankar on being elected as 14th Vice President of India.
In a statement issued to media persons, the BJP stalwart hailed the victory of Jagdeep Dhankar by saying the huge margin by which the NDA candidate has trounced the opposition's Margaret Alva shows that the policies of BJP are widely accepted and people of the country are readily embracing the nationalist line which the BJP leadership has been toeing since it came to power in 2014.
It is pertinent to mention that the NDA candidate Dhankar on Saturday won the Vice Presidential election by bagging more than 500 votes, while opposition candidate Margaret Alva polled less than 200 votes.
Hitting out at Congress Party, Kavinder said that the dynastic political party which is also the oldest party in the country never gave due respect to its members and that is the reason behind people like Dhankar left the party to join the nationalists camp of BJP leaders, where people like him are given respect as well as constitutional posts to thrive and help the nation to progress without any hindrance.
Kavinder said that BJP has a track record of giving due place to the deserving people as the candidature of Dhankar, who has joined BJP after quitting Congress, for Vice President's post was not the lone case as many people who have embraced BJP after shunning Congress and other parties had also given such coveted posts in the past as well proving that BJP is not a dynastic party but runs on democratic principles.
The former Deputy Chief Minister said that Jagdeep Dhankar being the seasoned personality having wide experience will prove as the exceptional Vice President of India and his tenure will help the people in the way that people's issues will be addressed in a much better manner besides playing significant role as Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.
