The themes reflect a society that has witnessed turmoil and is yet seeking a positive change, a chance to build on pools of harmony and peace for the betterment of society. This Award represents its first step to explore and build on such a pool of writers in the region. The Awardees expressed their sense of having a window open to the rest of India to articulate issues from a region which remains isolated and needs to open up. This opportunity to share their perspectives and link with the mainstream national media was something of value not only for each individual but to the region as a whole.
