DB constitutes three person committee to submit report about existing status

JAMMU, Aug 10: In the much publicized Public Interest Litigation regarding preservation of Gharana wetland, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal and Justice Rajesh Sekari constitute a committee of three persons namely M. K. Sharma, Member Secretary, State Legal Services Authority, Dr. Deepika Salathia, Assistant Professor, Department of Environmental Sciences, Jammu University and Satish Kumar Sharma (JKAS), Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jammu persons to visit Gharana Wetland and to submit a status report about its existing status which may include encroachments, if any, and work which is being carried out for its development.within a period of six weeks to the court.
When the PIL Came-up for hearing, DB observed that C. Raina, learned Advocate General, submits that in order to resolve the issues arising in this petition, as the Government is also interested in the preservation and conservation of the Gharana wetland, a team of independent Commissioners be appointed to visit the wetland and to submit a report about its existing status which may include encroachments, if any, and work which is being carried out for its development.
DB further said that in view of the above submissions and the fact that there is no opposition to it, we constitute a team of the following three persons to visit Gharana Wetland and to submit a status report as directed within a period of six weeks to the court.
DB further directed the office of the Advocate General shall provide necessary assistance in coordination with the district authorities as well as the authorities of Gharana Wetland to facilitate the visit of the above team and to ensure that token amount of Rs. 11,000/- is paid to each of them on the submission of the report.
