Punjabi Novel 'Paap Di Pand' released

JAMMU, Aug 11: A Punjabi novel 'Paap Di Pand' written by Bhupinder Singh Raina, a well known Punjabi novelist of Jammu & Kashmir, was released, on 10 th August, 2022, in a Book Release Ceremony during seminar on the Life & Contribution of Bhupinder Singh Raina at Seminar Hall of Punjabi Deptt. of JU. The programme was organized by Deptt. of Punjabi, University of Jammu. Prof Sucheta Pathania, Dean, Faculty of English Deptt. was the chief guest on this occasion whereas S S Bijral, former IGP was the guest of honour and well known senior Punjabi writer Devinder Singh was the special guest on this occasion. Dr. Baljit Kour, HoD Punjabi Deptt., JU shared the dais. The programme was attended by many well known writers of different languages, intellectuals, research scholars and the post graduate students of the Punjabi Department of JU.
While welcoming the guests, Dr. Baljit Kour gave a brief of the day's programme and put light on the life and contribution of Bhupinder Singh Raina.
Two papers were readout by Balwinder KOur and Ranvir Singh (both of them the research scholars of the Deptt. of Punjabi). Through their papers they threw light on the content, values and the qualitative merits of the novel in respect of its plot, structure, concerns, phraseology and diction etc.
In her address the chief guest Prof. Sucheta Pathania appreciated the concerns of the issues of women have been touched by the writer in his novel 'Paap Di Pand'. She elaborated on the issues that had been the concerns of the intellectuals in the East or the West. She also touched the minute details of the intricacies of relationships between man and woman throughout the world. She also appreciated the Deptt. of Punjabi for organizing such literary interactive programmes regularly.
S S Bijral , in his address gave the references from Gurbani on the significance of womanhood in the universe. He added that he has always loved to motivate the youth to know the values inscribed in the scriptures of the wise. Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, JKAACL discussed in detail the factors revealed in the novel in respect of subtle matters of concerns in the relationships of man and woman. S. Devinder Singh emphasized on the promotion of Punjabi in the region. Bhupinder Singh Raina narrated his journey in the field of writing. His daughter Rupindra Raj also spoke on this occasion.
Dr. Pritam Singh conducted the proceedings of the programme. Dr. Harjinder Singh extendedthe vote of thanks.
