Welcome Move
8/11/2022 11:12:56 PM

The decision of the Jammu and Kashmir Government to do away with the interviews for selection of level-6 posts is a welcome step.
Now, the selections for the posts of Motor Vehicle Inspector, Junior Stenographer, Library Assistant, Inspector Fisheries/ Farm Manager/ Equivalent, Assistant/ Surveyor Fisheries/ Equivalent, Refrigerator Mechanic, Incubator Mechanic and Junior Engineer (Civil and Mechanical) will be held on the basis of the written test thus minimizing the possibility of favoritism and backdoor entries.
After August 5, 2019—when the Centre announced its decision to abrogate J&K’s special status and bifurcated it into two Union Territories—the government has taken numerous steps to make the recruitment process transparent.
Last month Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, cancelled the selection list of the Sub Inspectors after the panel, which was formed to look into the allegations of alleged discrepancies, pointed out that the exercise was not carried out in a transparent manner.
Last three years have witnessed a sea change in the recruitment exercises carried out by the Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board, Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission and other recruitment agencies.
These bodies are making every possible attempt to ensure that the recruitment processes are fast paced and are carried out without any hassles and in a transparent manner.
The government’s decision to do away with the interview process for the selection of 6-level posts has left the field open for the meritorious candidates. The ones who will qualify will get the jobs and no one will be appointed through a backdoor. The recruitment agencies have to ensure that written tests for all these posts should be conducted in a transparent and fair manner so that no fingers are pointed.
The government’s decision to abolish the interview process for these posts will increase the efficiency, transparency and timely conclusion of recruitment processes. Very importantly it hasn’t left any room for any recommendations to be entertained.
The steps taken by the government have brought people closer to the system and it has led to them reposing faith on the decision being taken by the administration.
Abolishing the interview process of level 6- posts is a good beginning and more such decisions should be taken to make recruitment processes transparent.
