| BJP claims KPs supporting it | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 12- Kashmiri Pandits today decided to vote and support the Bhartitya Janta Party candidates in the ongoing assembly elections in the state. The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting held under the auspices of Pt. Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust which was among other attended among others by former union minister and senior BJP leader Prof Chaman Lal Gupta, BJP member national executive Dr. Nirmal Singh and Bharat Bushan. The meeting resolved to support and vote for the BJP candidates and made an appeal to the community members to vote BJP candidates. The meeting was presided over by BJP leader Lalit Kumar Moza. Former Governor Goa, Kedar Nath Sahni who was Chief Guest reminded the participants about the happenings in the valley before 1990, including desecration of temples in 1986 and the manner in which then BJP stalwarts had raised the issue with administration of the day. He said that BJP’s bonds with Kashmiri Hindus was many decades old and what ever the party did for the displaced community was as a matter of its faith and commitment to the national unity and integrity. Paying rich tributes to the leaders of the community such as Prem Nath Bhat, Tika Lal Taploo, he said that course of action for community had been laid at by them and now they should vote for BJP candidates where ever they are. Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta in his address stated that state is passing through critical period and time has come when all right thinking people should act decisively and resolutely to safeguard the interests and future of the state and appealed the community members to show the same degree of unity with the Jammuites as had been shown by them during recent Amarnath Shrine Board land agitation and vote for BJP which had played vital and pivotal role then.
