| Davar asks BJP to desist from dividing people on communal lines | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 12- Lashing out at the BJP for its divisive and communal politics, AICC Secretary Capt. Praveen Davar said that the humiliating defeat of BJP in Delhi and Rajasthan bears testimony to the fact that people are not going to be misled by propaganda aimed at dividing people on communal lines Addressing series of election rallies in Suchetgarh constituency to garner support for the party candidate Ch. Garu Ram, AICC secretary warned the BJP that it should desist from dividing people belonging to different regions which will be detrimental not only to the unity of J&K but also to national unity. Their advertisements in the print and electronic media display such short sightedness, he added. Capt. Davar compared the remarkable achievements of UPA government with the dismal record of Vajpayee led NDA government and gave many instances like failure to remove Narendra Modi after Gujarat genocide, and failure to take action against any Minister, despite many unprecedented scams like Tehelka and Coffin scandals, to prove that it was Atal Behari Vajpayee who proved to be the weakest Prime Minister since independence. The AICC Secretary also drew comparison between the glorious history of 123 year old Congress with the BJP, whose mother organization, the RSS played a pro-British role during the freedom struggle when Congressmen were making innumerable sacrifices and suffering untold hardships. Amidst thunderous applause, Capt. Davar said that it was a matter of great pride for Congress workers that they belonged to the party of Mahatma Gandhi and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru whose complete identity with the freedom struggle of J&K led by Sheikh Abdullah ensured that J&K became part of India. The AICC Secretary ridiculed the BJP for omitting the demand of Article 370 from its election manifesto which shows that BJP has finally realized that Article 370 cannot be done away with. BJP, he said, will not be able to improve its tally of one seat it won in 2002 elections. Party candidate Gharu Ram who also addressed the gatherings lauded the role of Azad government in last 2½ years and gave details of development work done by him in Suchetgarh.
