Early Times report Jammu, December 12 – As many as 3445 public meetings and rallies have been organized in Jammu and Kashmir by various political parties and candidates so far, since the announcement of elections in the State by the Election Commission of India, on October 19. Of these, 1848 rallies and public meetings were held in Kashmir division and 1597 in Jammu division. Of the total rallies and public meetings, 463 were mega rallies including, 20 held in the three districts of Pulwama, Shopian and Kathua yesterday, on the last day of campaigning. Of the total rallies and public meetings held in the State, 783 were organized by NC, 716 by PDP, 715 by Congress, 270 by BJP, 135 by NPP, 108 by BSP, 82 by ANC, 69 by PDF, 62 by SP, 59 by JK Democratic Party (N), 43 by Lok Jan Shakti, 37 by Peoples National Front, 21 by CPI(M), 20 by Bhartiya Bahujan Party J&K, 12 by Jammu State Morcha, 10 by NCP, six each by All India Forward Block and RJD, five each by Awami League and Socialist Democratic Party, four by Kranti Dal, three by National Bahujan Party, two each by JD(S), JD(U), Samata Party, Peoples Revolutionary Movement and Janta United Front and one each by Jammu State Morcha (P), LUTF and Rashtriya Lok Dal and 241 by independents. In Kashmir division, 570 public meetings and rallies were organized by PDP, 466 by NC, 284 by Congress, 68 by PDF, 65 by ANC, 54 by JK Democratic Party (N), 41 by BJP, 37 by Peoples National Front, 35 by SP, 23 by NPP, 22 by Lok Jan Shakti, 20 by CPI(M), 10 by BSP, six by RJD, five each by Awami League and All India Forward Block, four each by NCP and Socialist Democratic Party, one each by JD(S), JD(U), Samata Party, National Bahujan Party, LUTF and Rashtriya Lok Dal and 113 by independents. In Jammu division, 431 public meetings and rallies were organized by Congress, 317 by NC, 229 by BJP, 146 by PDP, 112 by NPP, 98 by BSP, 27 by SP, 21 by Lok Jan Shakti, 20 by Bhartiya Bahujan Party J&K, 17 by ANC, 12 by Jammu State Morcha, six by NCP, five by JK Democratic Party (N), four by Kranti Dal, two each by Peoples Revolutionary Movement, National Bahujan Party and Janta United Front, one each by PDF, CPI(M), JD(S), JD(U), Samata Party, Jammu State Morcha (P), Socialist Democratic Party and All India Forward Block and 128 by independent candidates. Of the 3445 rallies held in the State, 283 were organized in the three districts of Pulwama, Shopian and Kathua, where polling is being held on December 13 in the fifth phase of Assembly elections. These include 53 in Pulwama, 65 in Shopian and 165 in Kathua district.
