8/22/2022 10:37:09 PM

Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Aug 22: The All Party Meeting called by National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah to formulate a common position on the issue of inclusion of non-local voters got underway here.
The meeting is being attended by Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti, Congress president Waqar Raool, CPI (M) MY Tarigami, Awami National Conferences Muaffar Shah and Shiv Sena J&K president Manish Sahni. The Peoples Conference headed by Sajad Lone and Apni Party Altaf Bukahri stayed away from the meeting.
Before attending the meeting, the newly appointed J&K Congress president said the party is against adding non-local voters in J&K.
Shiva Sena's Sahni said the identity of Dogras, Kashmiris and Gujjars was being mutilated by the present government.
"J&K is suffering and in a democracy people are supreme and we have to come together to help people despite our ideologies," Sahni told reporters outside Abdullah's Gupkar residence.
The BJP has also convened a separate meeting in Srinagar to discuss the current political situation.
There has been a political uproar in the union territory after the Chief Election Officer's statement on inclusion of non-locals in the voter list.
The Kashmir parties hit out at the move and alleged the exercise was aimed to help the BJP.
