| Eleven more colleges to come up in J&K | | | Srinagar, Sept. 16 : Jammu and Kashmir government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for construction of 11 more degree colleges and set in motion the process to appoint 793 lecturers in the state.
Minister of State for Higher and Technical Education Aijaz Ahmad Khan today said the MoU has been signed with National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC).
Addressing a meeting of officials of his ministry here, he said work is apace on the construction of seven new degree college complexes at a cost of over Rs 11 crore.
Khan said J&K Public Service Commission has been asked to start the process of filling up 793 posts of lecturers in various colleges. The government opended 18 degree colleges last year, taking the total number to 54, the Minister said.
About Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), he said 37 such institutes are presently functional and nine more are being set up under Prime Minister's reconstruction programme.
